Nobody tells a Bible story word for word. A good storyteller compresses, puts dialogue into everyday speech, and adds a phrase so their listeners can follow. That freedom is what makes a telling come alive. It also lets a telling drift away from the text without the storyteller noticing.
Check My Story listens to a recording of your telling and lays it beside the passage, verse by verse. You see exactly where your telling holds to Scripture and where it departs, so you can keep the choices that serve your listeners and fix the ones that don't.

- Record your telling. Use audio or video from a phone. Tell it the way you'd tell it to your listeners, not read from a page.
- Upload it with the passage. Enter the reference, for example Luke 15:11-32, and pick the ESV or NLT to compare against.
- Download your workbook. In a couple of minutes you get an Excel file to review, correct, and keep.
What you get
- A word-for-word transcript of what you actually said, timestamped, with "um"s and restarts kept, because it records the telling, not the script.
- Anchoring. Each movement of your story sits next to the verses it rests on.
- Departures. Every place you compressed, expanded, reordered, substituted, left out, or added, each marked minor or as a change that may alter the meaning.
- Feedback on the telling. Accuracy to the text, delivery (pace, pauses, repetition, dialogue), whether it speaks to your listeners' worldview, and church words left untranslated.
It names what changed. You say why.
The checker never decides whether a departure was a good choice. Some changes serve your listeners; some quietly reshape the story. Each departure comes with an empty Reason column, and filling it in is the storyteller's work. That's where faithfulness is practiced, and that judgment stays with you.
Your recording is deleted as soon as it's transcribed. Only the transcript and the results are kept, and you can delete those at any time.
